U10 and U9 Home Matches Cancelled This Weekend

Unfortunately due to the horrible weather this week we've had to postpone both games this weekend. It was going to be the first weekend that both teams were at home but alas it wasn't to be.

Everybody enjoy their lie-ins tomorrow morning!

Note that Carl will still be getting up early as the mini-kids soccer school is not affected.

Huge Progress Seen in Juniors

Whilst both our teams haven't seen the best start to the season all of our coaches are really pleased with the progress that the juniors are making.

Each week our boys and girls play against players who have been playing in teams for two, sometimes three seasons already. We mustn't forget that for the vast majority of our youngsters this is their first season and it's a very new experience for them.

Both teams managed to draw this week. The U10s managed to score three thanks to a hat-trick from Harry Turnbull. They were very unlucky to concede an equaliser on the stroke of full-time. Despite village rumour the referee couldn't have ended the game any sooner the whistle blew bang on 15:00 minutes and not a second sooner or indeed later!

The Under 9s put in a great performance away from home. Only the woodwork denied Owen Peatfield a hatful of goals but Isaac Young and Luke Adderley managed one-each. Again the boys were unlucky to draw but we're all pleased with our first points.

Coaches Pass FA Level 1 Course

As part of our work towards achieving the FA Charter Standard, Carl, Steve and Peter all completed their FA Level 1 course in football coaching this weekend.

As well as child protection and first aid, the course encompasses long term player development. The coaches will be using the techniques they've learnt to develop players technically, socially, physically and psychologically while they are with us.

We'll be focusing on these aspects of player development in everything that we do. For most children they'll just think they're having fun but if you have any questions then please don't hesitate to catch us at a training session. We'll be only too happy to discuss our approach or specifically your own child's development if you wish.
